A fee is charged for all ambulance transportation.

The Quebec government sets ambulance transportation rates.  The rates have not increased since 1997. No payment is made at the time of emergency transportation and the person transported is given a notice and sent an official invoice later.

Individuals must pay the invoice themselves or through their private insurance. There are exceptional assistance programs available that cover ambulance fees. Exceptional assistance programs.
